Ability to adapt and operate
Members of the Alamo Wing filled about 1,700 sand bags during the time they were deployed for the Operational Readiness Excercise. A traffic cone with the top opening widened proved to be a valuable tool to speed the filing process. The excercise was cut short as a result of weather warnings that could have placed both aircraft and personnel at risk. Luckily, the storm did not build into hurricane force winds and all members of the wing, and the equipment they took with them were safely returned to Lackland within 12 hours. Bag Drag, with power tools
This pallet of baggage was being transfered onto the flight line when a recent Operational Readiness Excercise quickly turned into a real life evacuation due to tropical depression ten forming in the Atlantic. Tropical depressions can accelerate into tropical storms and then hurricanes. This storm threatened to send severe weather from the Florida panhandle westward through the Gulf Coast region. Airmen from the 433rd Airlift Wing and several reservists from the 403rd Airlift Wing were able to evacuate the excercise area within 12 hours. (U.S. Air Force Photo/Master Sgt. Collen McGee)

The 433rd Airlift Wing Reserve members will again go through this line in December while being inspected by the Air Mobility Command Inspector General Team on thier ability to deploy, operate under possible hostile conditions and then redeploy to home station. We Remember You
Reservists Remember. Members of the Alamo Wing gathered at 9 A.M. to observe a shared moment of remembrance and silence for the men and women who lost their lives during the worst terror attack on U.S. soil since the attack on Pearl Harbor. Reservists like those in the 433rd Airlift Wing play a vital part in the Global War on Terror. Many missions are Reserve dominated such as, port mortuary affairs, aeromedical evacuation and cargo handling. Alamo Wing Reservists are currently serving in volunteer positions throughout the U.S. Central Command Area of Responsibility and nearly 100 wing members are currently scheduled to deploy in January of 2008. Staff Sgt. Shawna Warren, a Reserve loadmaster with the 433rd Airlift Wing, gives a thumbs up to Senior Master Sgt. Gary Hochenberger as he drives a backhoe onto an Alamo Wing C-5A. Senior Airman Ionatana Cipili and Sergeant Warren loaded eight various construction vehicles into the cargo hold of the C-5. The equipment, stored in Hawaii, is being transferred to the Washoe Tribe in Nevada as part of a Defense Reutilization and Marketing Office program to provide much needed equipment to organizations like the Washoe Tribe. Equipment is used for wildfire prevention, infastructure repair and construction and transporting the valuable machinery gives practical, realistic training to military members while they meet the needs of organizations around the country.
