Field kitchens advance in capability
Airman First Class Valente Carreon, 433rd Services Squadron, shows his co-workers the Babington Multi-fuel Burner (PMB) during a recent field training exercise. the PMB it is the newest cooking element available to Services in the field and replaces the previous single burner model. The PMB is part of the Single Pallet Expeditionary Kitchen. The SPEK is used to support early deployments with hot food. the SPEK was designed to prepare heat & serve Unitized Group Rations to 550 people. New Technology
433rd Airlift Wing reservist, Tech. Sgt. David Alsip, demonstrates how light the new C-5 maintenance stand is. Despite its lack of heft, the stand is solid and helps disperse the maintainer's weight, putting less stress on the engine cowling. Dr. (Col.) Renee Jaso, commander or the Air Force Reserve's 433rd Medical Squadron (center), receives a briefing about the condition of an ICU patient in the AFTH. Colonel Jaso volunteered, for the second time, to step away from his successful general surgury practice in San Antonio to help heal servicemembers in Iraq. "The real heroes are those who defend our liberty with their flesh and bones," said Colonel Jaso. "All I can do in return is take care of them when they fall."
