San Antonio Food Bank visits Alamo Wing

JOINT BASE SAN ANTONIO-LACKLAND, Texas --

The 433rd Airlift Wing hosted members from the San Antonio Food Bank for an exclusive tour of the C-5A Galaxy aircraft Sept. 22, 2016 here.

Col. Thomas Smith, Jr., 433rd Airlift Wing commander, met with the CEO and employees of the SAFB in the 433rd Airlift Wing Headquarters building, where they received a mission briefing about the wing. Afterwards, members had the opportunity to tour a C-5A Galaxy aircraft.

"It was truly a pleasure of ours to tour the wing and view these aircraft," said Eric Cooper President and CEO of the SAFB, "We are humbled by the dedication of our military and really the precision in which they execute their jobs."

The San Antonio Food Bank provides food and grocery products to more than 530 partner agencies in 16 counties throughout Southwest Texas. According to its website, the San Antonio Food Bank provided nearly 62 million pounds of food in 2015. The mission of the SAFB is to fight hunger in Southwest Texas through food distribution, programs, education, and advocacy.
