• STARBASE Kelly visits Southwest Research Institute

    Students participating in the STARBASE Kelly summer program here toured the Southwest Research Institute in San Antonio, Texas, July 31. They received instruction and demonstrations in how the institute’s scientists use science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

  • Stop the Bleed: A battlefield innovation on civilian soil

    A public health campaign called Stop the Bleed builds on lifesaving lessons from military battlefields. The goal is to train Americans of all ages how to successfully respond to bleeding emergencies in traumas from accidents and intentional violence.

  • Retired MWDs looking for family, homes, couches

    Thousands of Military Working Dogs are stationed around the world placing themselves in harm’s way detecting bombs, land mines and subduing threatening people; all in the name of keeping Americans safe. Eventually, these canines retire and some can be adopted by the public to live as a couch potato.

  • Esper Becomes 27th Defense Secretary

    Dr. Mark T. Esper became the 27th defense secretary July 23 during an early evening White House swearing-in ceremony. Earlier in the day, by a 90-8 vote, the U.S. Senate confirmed Esper to serve in the office.
