Remembering Brigadier General Charles McGee
Col Charles E. McGee, retired, is interviewed by ACSC Student, Maj Daniel Thompson during the 2013 Gather of Eagles at the Air Command and Staff College Thursday 6 May 2013. Col McGee started his military career breaking barriers with the 99th Fighter Squadron of the 332nd Fighter Group, the famed "Tuskegee Airmen". His flying career continued during Korea and Vietnam, earning the highest three-war total for fighter missions of any Air Force Aviator. McGee was recognized with the Congressional Gold Medal of Honor, one of the nation's highest civilian awards. Gathering of Eagles is a year long, student-run research elective at Air Command and Staff College, which through biographical studies and personal interviews with the student-selected Eagles collects, educates and advocates air, space and cyberspace history.USAF Photograph by Donna L.
