April is Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month. We take time this month to raise awareness & provide resources to prevent sexual assault and harassment. The theme this year is "STEP FORWARD. Prevent. Report. Advocate." Our new theme is a call to action for individuals at all levels to use their personal strength to advance positive change in preventing sexual violence. GOLD STAR 22-04-22
The phrase “Gold Star Family,” dates back to World War I, when military families displayed service flags featuring a blue star for every immediate family member serving in the Armed Forces. The star’s color would be changed to gold if the family lost a loved one in the war, hence the term, “Gold Star Family.”

Defense Logistics Agency Installation Management Richmond’s Security and Emergency Services shares tips for further awareness of making 9-1-1 calls on Defense Supply Center Richmond, Virginia during National 9-1-1 Education Month observed annually in the month of April. The 9-1-1 call system serves as the vital link between the public and emergency responders and is intended as a nationwide telephone number and gives the public fast and easy access to a public safety answering point.
