Coming Home...
The new cargo-load trainer for the C-5 Formal Training Unit here, was carved from C-5 Galaxy tail number #306. The origonal aircraft was once assigned to the 433rd Airlift Wing, Tail 306 returns home, to serve future generations of C-5 aircrews, as a sister C-5 flies overhead.

Texas Reserve Wing hosts Illinois tour group
Air Force Reserve pilot, Major Jeff Schmidt, 68th Airlift Squadron, Lackland AFB, TX, (right), tells an Illinois-based television news reporter about the dynamics of operating the nation's largest military transport plane, the C-5 Galaxy. A C-5 at sunrise on the Lackland AFB Flightline.
Air Force Reserve Command's 433rd Airlift Wing at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas, is home to 16 C-5A Galaxy Airlifters. The C-5 is the only aircraft capable of transporting oversized cargo, non-stop, to anywhere in the world. C-5s from Lackland participated in humanitarian missions to include Hurricane relief and carrying aid to the victims of the earthquake in Pakistan. The C-5s from Lackland also support the airlift needs of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom.
