2022 AFLCMC Veterans Day graphic
On November 11, 1919, “Armistice Day” marked the first anniversary of the end of WWI. In 1926 congress passed a resolution calling for an annual observance, which then became a national holiday in 1938. The holiday became known as Veterans Day in 1954. (U.S. Air Force graphic by Jim Varhegyi)
