ALAMO WING HONOR GUARD

The mission of the 433rd Airlift Wing Honor Guard is to represent the Air Force in ceremonial functions in Southern Texas. They render military honors for Air Force personnel and their family members during funeral services, and promotion and retirement ceremonies when available. Furthermore, they also support on-base ceremonies, such as quarterly/annual award banquets, Airman Leadership School/Community College of the Air Force graduations, the Air Force Ball, and other wing-level programs.Another function of the Honor Guard is to provide services at opening ceremonies for appropriate events attended by the general public. These off-base events are only supported with the approval of the base Public Affairs office.

GUIDELINES

Honor Guard requests must be submitted at least 30 days in advance notice, but no earlier than 90 days.  

◾ Though rare, an approved request could be canceled based on mission requirements.

◾ The U.S. Constitution and federal law prohibit the Honor Guard from supporting most religious events except for funerals and all partisan political events.

◾ The Honor Guard is unable to support any event with a fundraising component.

◾ The 433rd AW Honor Guard's service area is limited to within three hours driving time from the city of San Antonio.

◾ We may ask the requester to cover some of the costs associated with the event; we may ask you to pay for travel and accommodations. If a meal fee, entry fee, or parking fee is required, we also expect the requester to cover those expenses as well.

To schedule funeral honors, please complete the Honors Request Form and include the DD214s, and email them to JBSA.HG@us.af.mil or fax to (210) 671-3665.

All submitted documents will be verified and confirmed via phone. To guarantee support, please provide documentation no later than 24 hours before the requested honors time.

Note: According to Title 10, Section 1491: Honors consists of a 2-person flag fold, the playing of Taps using a ceremonial bugle and flag presentation to the Next of Kin regardless of veteran status, rank, or years of service.
