Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps students from John Jay High School received the new Air Force recruit treatment upon their arrival at the 433rd Airlift Wing May 12 here.

The JROTC students were greeted by 433rd Training Squadron Military Training Instructors, who made sure to get “up close and personal” when greeting them off the bus. The MTI’s hurried the students off the bus and had them fall-in to their respective flights. Col. Gretchen Wiltse, the 433rd Maintenance Group commander, spoke to the students about the 433rd AW and the advantages of joining the Air Force Reserves.

JROTC students then boarded buses and toured the military working dog facility at the 341st Training Squadron. Staff Sgt. Nicholas Lewis, a 341st TRS MWD handler, setup a MWD demonstration and answered questions about the dog handler career field.

The JROTC students had lunch and then headed back to the 433rd AW where they toured the survival, engine, and structural engineering shops. The tour culminated with the students touring a C-5M Super Galaxy aircraft on the flight line.
