  • Ready, set, respond-315AW Airmen train in tropics

    A team of Airmen from the 315th Airlift Wing, Joint Base Charleston, S.C., trained in rapid response deployment scenarios during exercise Patriot Palm with joint-service members from the Marines, Coast Guard, Army, and FBI Jan. 27-30, 2020, at Marine Corps Base Hawaii, Hawaii. One of the key players in the exercise was the 315th Contingency Response Flight, which is part of the 315 AW. Starting from a bare base, CRF units are meant to set up an operating airfield within only hours.
  • Contingency response experts practice teamwork at Patriot Sands

    About 500 Airmen, Soldiers, Coast Guardsmen, FBI personnel, and Florida International University’s Florida Advanced Surgical Transport team volunteers trained together on contingency response over five days in Exercise Patriot Sands Feb. 20-23, 2020, here. Contingency response personnel around the globe teamed up on the east Florida coast to refine their emergency response capabilities during the exercise, training on a host of different aircraft platforms including the C-17 Globemaster III, C-5M Super Galaxy, KC-135 Stratotanker, C-130 Hercules, Army HH-60 Pave Hawk, and Coast Guard MH-65 Dolphin.

  • 'Port Dawgs' team with 'Alamo Dustoff' for nighttime helicopter missions

    For the second time in as many months, a joint air-ground team soared across the nighttime skies of San Antonio Oct. 12 in a scene reminiscent of a Hollywood action blockbuster. On the heels of a mirror-image mission that took place Aug. 22, Airmen from the 26th Aerial Port Squadron trained with the “Alamo Dustoff” Soldiers of Company C, 2-149 Aviation Regiment, Texas Army National Guard, and an active duty pathfinder team for the tactical day and nighttime helicopter extraction and insertion of disaster-relief supplies and personnel.
