Out of New Orleans
Lt. Col. Christine Hassen, a flight nurse with the 433rd Aeromedical Evacuation Squadron was one of the volunteers to went to New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina. She and other members of the 433rd AES set up a medical staging facility inside the Louis Armstrong International Airport. The 433rd AES, with help from AES squadrons throughout the Reserve, Guard and active-duty Air Force, transported almost 2,000 patients out to medical facilities who could provide the care New Orleans could no longer give.
