Special Junior ROTC cadet provides smiles, motivates
Col. William Rolocut, 433rd Operations Group commander, shakes hands with Cadet Tyler Rick during the start of the 433rd Airlift Wing's 13th Annual Junior ROTC Day, which took place April 1, 2011 at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas. The 16-year-old sophomore from the Air Force Junior ROTC unit at John Jay High School in San Antonio is diagnosed with cerebral palsy. He was one of more than 300 cadets to take part in Junior ROTC Day. He said he thought it was, "cool," to have such a high-ranking officer greet him in person. "Yes sir, he is my motivation for joining Junior ROTC, I'm very proud to have my dad be in the Air Force," said Cadet Rick about his father Tech. Sgt. Matthew Rick, a military instructor with the 319th Training Squadron. "Tyler has been a major motivator for me as well," commented Sergeant Rick.
