Buns on run
Ken Vogel, a civilian employee with 433rd Airlift Wing commander’s support staff, grabs another tray of burger buns off the shelf during this year’s Oyster Bake, which took place April 9, 2011. Mr. Vogel was one of several members from the Alamo Wing that volunteered during day two of Oyster Bake 2011 at Saint Mary’s University in San Antonio. The civil servant used the volunteer event to set a positive example for his son, thirteen-year-old Jonathan Vogel, who also volunteered alongside his dad. “Events like this are a great way to spend time with your kids and show them the value of giving back to the community through volunteering. It’s cool cause we end up having more fun than many people would expect,” said Mr. Vogel. Service members, civilians and military family members from the Alamo Wing volunteered to operate a burger booth and raise money during Fiesta 2011.
