433rd M-TECH shop makes new C-5 parts using state-of-the-art "water jet"
Senior Airman Craig Nicholson and Tech. Sgt. Jeremy Tate, both metals technicians at the 433rd Metals Technology shop, install a freshly-made C-5 Galaxy throttle-locking plate that was made in their shop using their new "water jet." The jet-machining center manufactures certain C-5 components more safely, efficiently, and cost-effectively for an aging fleet whose parts are no longer commercially made or available. The M-TECH shop belongs to one of three maintenance squadrons at the 433rd Airlift Wing, a C-5 equipped Air Force Reserve located at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland.
