Two new squadrons at Lackland’s Alamo Wing

Two new squadrons associated with the 433rd Airlift Wing will hold their official activation ceremony today at 10:00 a.m. The new squadrons are part of the C-5 Formal Training Unit at Lackland AFB's Kelly Field. The C-5 FTU officially began operation in November of last year. The units previously operated as detachments until their functions were fully transferred to the Kelly Field FTU.
The new units are the 733rd Training Squadron and the 356th Airlift Squadron. The 356th AS is transferring its flag and patch to the Alamo Wing from Wright Patterson AFB, where it conducted formal flight training for the C-141 weapon system. The 356th AS is responsible for training on several C-5 weapons systems formal courses. 733rd TRS is responsible for administrative control of the students enrolled at Lackland's Kelly Field C-5 FTU.
