433RD AIRLIFT WING CHANGES COMMAND Published April 10, 2010 By 100410 LACKLAND AIR FORCE BASE, Texas -- Hundreds of reservists will participate in and observe a change of command ceremony here Sunday. Brig. Gen. John C. Fobian, commander of the 433rd Airlift Wing, will relinquish command of the Alamo Wing to Col. Kenneth D. Lewis, Jr. during a change of command ceremony Sunday, April 11, at 10 a.m. The ceremony will take place in Building 829, the wing's fuel cell facility, near the wing's C-5 Galaxy ramp. Maj. Gen. Eric Crabtree, commander of 4th Air Force at March Air Reserve Base, Calif., will officiate the event. General Fobian has been commander of the 433rd AW since July 2004. He led the wing through many exercises, deployments, mobilizations and global operations during that time. In 2007, he deployed as the director of mobility forces for U.S. Central Command. USCENTCOM is responsible for U.S. security interests in 20 nations stretching through the Arabian Gulf region into Central Asia. General Fobian leaves the 433rd AW for Headquarters, Air Education and Training Command at Randolph AFB. There he will become the deputy director for joint matters. Colonel Lewis comes to the Alamo Wing from MacDill AFB, located near Tampa, Fla., where he commanded the 927th Air Refueling Wing. The 927th ARW is an Air Force Reserve Command associate wing that provides global air-refueling and airlift operations to extend the global reach of United States air power. As the new commander of the 433rd AW, Colonel Lewis will be responsible for the operations and activities of nearly 3,000 Reserve Airmen who support, maintain and operate the wing's fleet of C-5 Galaxy strategic airlifters and the Air Force C-5 Formal Training Unit. The Alamo Wing provides airlift in support of emergency, combat and humanitarian efforts worldwide and continues to deploy support, maintenance, operations and medical personnel worldwide in support of contingency operations.
