Mission Support Group welcomes new commander

The 433rd Mission Support Group welcomed its new commander during an assumption of command ceremony held at the Bob Hope Theater here Aug. 6, 2016.

Col. David Enfield, 433rd MSG commander, takes control of the group after a six-month stint as the 349th MSG commander at Travis Air Force Base, Calif.

The 433rd Airlift Wing commander, and presiding official of the ceremony, Col. Thomas K. Smith Jr., listed numerous accomplishments and achievements of Enfield's 25-year career. Speaking to the members of the 433rd MSG, Smith said he is excited to have Enfield as a part of the 433rd team.

"You have a commander who is very accomplished and has a proven track record for success in whatever role he is in," said Smith.

Enfield's wife and six of his children were in attendance for the ceremony and he thanked them for their support over the years. He also addressed his new Airmen that he now leads into the foreseeable future.

"I am extremely honored and humbled to now be leading an extraordinary group of Airmen that have accomplished so many great things," said Enfield. "I look forward to working with every one of you and am excited to see what we can accomplish in the future here at the Alamo Wing."

Enfield received his commission through the Air Force ROTC program in December 1989 at Brigham Young University and entered active-duty service in November 1990. He has worked in numerous leadership and command roles throughout his career as well as served in multiple overseas and deployed environments.

The Mission Support Group is one of four groups assigned to the 433rd AW. As the 433rd MSG commander, Enfield is responsible for the administration and development of programs to develop and train support personnel to achieve ready status in accordance with Air Force, Air Force Reserve Command, and Air Mobility Command policies.

Mission Support Group services include personnel, training, information management, lodging, food services, security forces, civil engineering, explosive ordnance disposal, disaster preparedness, airfield management, aircraft loading and passenger movement, logistics readiness and communications and computers.
