Tim Wade 433rd Airlift Wing Public Affairs JOINT BASE SAN ANTONIO-Lackland, Texas -- The 433rd Maintenance Group held the second annual MXG Golf Tournament at the Alsatian Golf Course in Castroville, Texas May 3. The sold-out tournament, which included over 120 players on over 30 teams, raised approximately $1,700 for the MXG Morale and Welfare Fund while also donating $500 and green fees to the Veterans of Foreign War Post 4815. "Our goals were simple; have fun, build morale, promote camaraderie and make it better than last years," said Col. Charles Combs, 433rd MXG commander. Col. Combs praised a dedicated cadre of individuals needed to construct such a large event. " It takes an incredible amount of hard work and our squad of volunteers headed up by Master Sgt. Rob Millan sacrificed tons of their personal time working the details and scouring the local business community and private organizations for support," he said. The relentless scouring by the volunteers allowed them to fill their goals. "For the second straight year, we filled out charitable goals," said Master Sgt. Robert Millan, 433rd MXG. "I would like to thank all the sponsors and I really want to thank our awesome crew; Frank Guzman, Eundra Phillips, Laura Trent, Maria Jenkins and Andrea Dierkhising." The tournament organizers, which moved it from April to May to coincide with Family Day this year, look to continue the reestablished the Alamo Wing tradition. "For the last 30 years, I've played in military affiliated tournaments all over the country and hands down, this has been the best so far," said Combs. "I say, so far, because next year we hope for it to be even better." The top three teams were: 1st place: Louie Berlanga, Mario Cantu, Homer Flores, Gilbert Deleon 2nd Place: Daniel Hinojosa, Tim Kilford, Arnie Martinez, Pedro Saenz 3rd place: Dave Crookham, Mike Stapleton, Dave LaCombe, Bob Miller
