The 426th Network Warfare Squadron welcomes new commander Lt. Col. Neil Schroeder during a change of command ceremony, May 2 at Carver Hall on Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, Texas. Col. Lloyd I. Terry Jr., 960th Cyberspace Operations Group commander, presided over the ceremony.

On his quest to find a new commander for the 426th NWS, Terry told the crowd, "I was up at Offutt Air Force Base visiting, one of my units when, I met Lt. Col. Schroeder. Decent record, pretty sharp guy,  so I did some research and discovered that Lt. Col. Schroeder used to be in the 33rd Network Warfare Squadron, so I'm getting someone who is already qualified in the weapons system, which is rare in the Reserve and he is what I need to take you guys a couple of steps further. I'm happy to have you (addressing Col. Schroeder and his wife) here and am looking forward to the future."

After taking command of the 426th NWS and saluting the unit Airmen for the first time, Schroeder addressed the crowd.

"I am extremely humbled and honored to be taking command of what is clearly one of the premier squadrons in the Air Force Reserve and the Air Force as a whole," he said. "Command is a privilege, and I have to thank you Col. Terry for giving me this opportunity and for having the trust and confidence in my abilities to lead such an exemplary group of men and women."

Schroeder, a Hartley, Iowa, native, was commissioned in May 1998 after graduating from the U.S. Air Force Academy. After serving eight years on active duty, he crossed into the U.S. Air Force Reserve where he has held a variety of cyberspace positions. He holds a Master of Science in Information Systems from the Air Force Institute of Technology, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio.
