The Texas Employer Support of The Guard and Reserve, Area 4, held their annual Salute to Employers Awards luncheon Nov. 4, at the Double Tree Hotel in downtown San Antonio. Deputy Chief Anthony Trevino, San Antonio Police Department, served as the master of ceremonies.

Trevino, a retired Air Force Chief Master Sgt., explained the important relationship that lies between private employers and their Reserve and Guard employees. "As a retired chief I saw what a great organization the ESGR was first hand. The ESGR encourages employers to be more flexible with their Guard and Reserve employees" said Trevino. "With the ESGR's support service members are able to do their job more effectively by not having to worry about their everyday job when they are called upon to deploy."

The ESGR supports the Guard and Reserve by acting as a liaison between employers and service members. The ESGR provides outreach, recognition, and educational opportunities that increase the employee, employer relationship between Guard and Reserve members.

The luncheon was held in conjunction with the Celebrate America's Military events coordinated by the San Antonio Chamber of Commerce. According to the website, the "two-week community-wide celebrate includes over two dozen events hosted by organizations across San Antonio" and has been held since 1970.
