Citizen Airmen from the 512th Airlift Wing worked alongside 433rd Maintenance Group maintainers from April 21 and May 3 here.

The maintainers collaborated to expedite critical maitenance work on essential C-5M Super Galaxy components including maintenance on landing gear, tire and wheel maintenance, structural inspections, hydraulics, engine repair, reviewed diagnostic systems, and electrical avionic system updates.

“The reception from the 433rd has been welcoming and very helpful in establishing a collaborative environment,” said Col. Rick Kuehn, 512th AW deputy wing commander.

“We appreciate the opportunity to learn together,” Kuehn said. “No matter how good you think you are, there is something to learn from the other team. We are exchanging techniques, procedures, and improving readiness.”

The 512th Reservists are from Dover Air Force Base, Delaware, a partner unit in Air Force Reserve Command. This kind of collaboration allows units to share ideas and solutions, while enhancing mission effectiveness as the Air Force transitions into a new strategic environment.

"We appreciate our Dover wingmen stepping up," said Lt. Col. Brandon Rodts, 433rd MXG deputy commander. "We’ve worked with the 512th in the past and they are always willing to share their know-how and time. That's the C-5 community, always there when you need them.”

Rodts added “That kind of connection will be essential moving forward. We have to be ready to transform and adapt to whatever the next strategic environment throws at us. Counting on each other, learning from each other – that’s how we win."
