Alamo Wing inducts Honorary Commanders

The 433rd Airlift Wing inducted six local civic and business leaders into the honorary commanders’ program during a ceremony here, Oct. 14.

The ceremony consisted of the honorary commanders’ receiving an Air Force commander’s insignia pin and assuming honorary command by accepting the 433rd AW guidon.

Each honorary commander was paired with leaders within the wing to learn the ins and outs of a Reserve unit’s mission and purpose.

Col. William Gutermuth, 433rd AW commander, presided over the ceremony.

“I’m really pleased that you guys are here and proud to be a part of a team that we share.” said Gutermuth. “We appreciate particularly our commanders for being willing to put the time and effort into connecting with us and learning about who we are what we do and allow us to learn about who you are and what you do.”

Col. Michelle Van Sickle, 433rd Medical Group commander, represented the squadrons under her command and began the ceremony by inducting Dr. Suhail Daraiseh.

Daraiseh, chiropractor at Sana Wellness & Health, San Antonio Texas, will be assigned to the 433rd Medical Squadron.

“I’m excited. It’s educational and I feel welcomed,” said Daraiseh. “I hope we can work together in the future. We wish to provide some sort of education or influence in chiropracting.”

The honorary commanders will have further opportunities to learn about their units and commanders through C-5M Super Galaxy tours, demonstrations, events and flights.

Alex Melo, Brooks Real Estate community relations manager- 433rd Aeromedical Staging Squadron

Mr. Augie Cortez, Jr., Augie’s BBQ owner- 26th Aerial Port Squadron

Mr. Stephen Ynosotrosa, Director of Community Relations, Air Force Federal Credit Union- 74th Aerial Port Squadron

Darnell Smith, Inaugural Director of intercollegiate athletics for Texas A&M University-San Antonio- 433rd Security Forces Squadron

Larry McHenry, Chief Executive Officer for Power Grid Professionals Inc.- 433rd Civil Engineer Squadron
