The 433rd Airlift Wing is scheduled to host its first Family Day since 2019 during the upcoming unit training assembly, May 15, in Hangar 826.

Family Day will begin with a fun run at 8 a.m. in the Outdoor Recreation Center parking lot located at Building 871, however, most events will take place from noon to 4 p.m.

Starting at noon, 433rd AW reservists and their families can enjoy attractions such as a static C-5M Super Galaxy display and a live DJ, along with activities ranging from kickball to volleyball and much more.

"The biggest thing we would like to accomplish for Family Day is to give our Airmen a rest day,” said Lt. Col. Mark Mulkey, 433rd AW chief of safety and Family Day project manager. “We also do it as a show-and-tell, so wing members can have their families come out and see what we do.”

Mulkey said another goal of Family Day is to help members adjust in transitioning from telework to in-person UTAs, while building camaraderie with other Airmen and families.

"The importance of Family Day is more than not worrying about work, but allowing people to have the face-to-face interaction we’ve been missing out on for the past two and a half years," said Mulkey.

“I'm excited to spend time with my family and give them a chance to integrate with other members and their families within the wing,” said Master Sgt. Delbert Templeton, 433rd AW first sergeant. “It’s a chance to expand the social network for my family, and have them feel like they're part of the unit.”

The mission of the 433rd AW is to “Provide Combat Ready Citizen Airmen Anywhere, Anytime.” Also known as the Alamo Wing, the unit has approximately 2,500 Reserve Citizen Airmen stationed in San Antonio, and was the first Air Force Reserve wing to be unit-equipped with the C-5 aircraft.
