- LACKLAND AFB -- Master Sgt. Robert Kusterer, a 68th Airlift Squadron C-5 flight engineer, was awarded the Air Force Association 2007 Reservist of the Year award. Sergeant Kusterer was selected as senior NCO of the year for the wing last fiscal year, which put him in the running for the AFA’s annual award. The recipient is chosen out of the Guard, Reserve, and active duty forces. Sergeant Kusterer was chosen for his many achievements and contributions to the wing, the Air Force Reserve, and the mission as a whole. In addition to his duty as a flight engineer, Sergeant Kusterer is also the Chief of Squadron Mobility Operations for the 68th AS. Sergeant Kusterer supported Operations IRAQI FREEDOM and ENDURING FREEDOM, participating in aerial flights into the CENTCOM area of responsibility since the very first support missions following the events of 9/11, and continued on throughout 2006. Sergeant Kusterer is also cited as an astute manager of monetary and equipment resources. Further, he is a founding member of the Reserve Enlisted Association along with co-managing a JROTC fund with the West Virginia, Veterans of the War Chapter. (U.S. Air Force Courtesy Photo)
