433rd Airlift Wing hosts Joint CCAF Graduation Published Dec. 19, 2018 By Minnie Jones 433rd Airlift Wing JOINT BASE SAN ANTONIO-Lackland, Texas -- The 433rd Airlift Wing held a joint Community College of the Air Force graduation ceremony Nov. 17, here at the Defense Language Institute’s International Hall. Col. Thomas “TK” Smith, 433rd Airlift Wing commander, and Command Chief Master Sgt. Shana Cullum presided over the event, and presented degrees to Reserve Citizen Airmen from the 433rd AW and the 960th Cyberspace Wing. During the ceremony, Cullum addressed the graduates, their family, and friends. “Well, you’ve made it. Although requirements to have your CCAF degree are no longer required to promote to the grades of Senior and Chief Master Sergeants, it shows that you are willing to go beyond the minimum, and go that extra step, said Cullum. “It draws the line of who really wants it, instead of just checking another box. You are on your way. Congratulations!” According to Air University’s website, the CCAF was established in 1972 to gain academic recognition for the technical training conducted by Air Force schools. It is a federally-chartered degree-granting institution that serves the U.S. Air Force’s enlisted total force. Its mission is to offer and award job-related associate in applied science degrees and other academic credentials that enhance mission readiness, contribute to recruiting, assist in retention, and support the career transitions and professional growth of the Air Force enlisted corps.
