Alamo Wing recognizes 2016 annual award winners Published Feb. 13, 2017 By Senior Airman Bryan Swink 433rd Airlift Wing Public Affairs JOINT BASE SAN ANTONIO-LACKLAND, Texas -- It was a night full of fun, laughter and celebration as members of the 433rd Airlift Wing gathered to honor and recognize the accomplishments of the annual awards nominees and winners during a banquet at the Courtyard SeaWorld San Antonio Feb. 11. More than 400 Airmen and their guests were in attendance of the event that included socializing, dinner, dancing and a speech by retired Air Force Ace Col. Chuck Debellevue. “Col. DeBellevue inspired the attendees with his examples of teamwork, excellence, and leadership which helped him achieve Ace status in Vietnam,” said Chief Master Sgt. Brian Pinsky, 433rd AW command chief. From those involved in planning the event to the enthusiasm of guests in attendance dancing to the music of the Band of the West-Warhawk, the Alamo Wing leadership recognized the effort it took to put the night together to honor their Airmen’s hard work. “What a great event and turnout we had to honor our wing’s superstars,” said Col. David Scott, 433rd AW vice commander. “I want to express my huge appreciation to everyone involved in making this incredible night happen. The people involved in the planning, coordinating and execution did a flawless job making this a special night for those being honored.” The annual award winners for the 433rd Airlift Wing are: Civilian Category I: Jonathan Alejandro, 433rd Aerospace Medicine Squadron Civilian Category II: Catherine L Elms, 433rd Force Support Squadron Civilian Category III: Donald J. Hall, 433rd Airlift Wing Airman of the Year: Senior Airman Ivan Vela, 433rd Maintenance Squadron Noncommissioned Officer of the Year: Staff Sgt. Amy M. Dennis, 433rd Airlift Control Flight Senior Noncommissioned Officer of the Year: Master Sgt. Joshua Anderson, 733rd Training Squadron First Sergeant of the Year: Chief Master Sgt. Jose A. Velez, JR., 433rd Maintenance Squadron Company Grade Officer of the Year: Capt. Robert Orallo III, 26th Aerial Port Squadron The annual award winners will compete in their respective categories at the unit's higher headquarters- 4th Air Force.
