Colonel MICHAEL H.M. EGBALIC Col. Michael H.M. Egbalic is the Group Commander, 433rd Maintenance Group, Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, Texas. He leads over 500 technicians in 25 Air Force specialty codes and is responsible for executing a 2,000 flying hour program for 8 C-5M aircraft valued at over $1.4 billion. He ensures safe aircraft launch, recovery, servicing, maintenance, and inspections. Additionally, Col. Egbalic leads sortie production necessary to support real world, combat coded and humanitarian mission taskings. He is directly responsible for the sortie production necessary to train over 200 C-5M aircrew yearly for the U.S. Air Force. Col. Egbalic also manages an annual budget of approximately $20 million as well as facilities valued at $300 million. He is the senior maintenance advisor responsible for maintaining fleet health for the 433rd Airlift Wing as well as ensuring the daily flying mission is met. Before assuming command of the 433rd Maintenance Group, Col. Egbalic was the Director of Logistics, United States Air Force Warfare Center, Air Combat Command, Nellis AFB, Nev. He was responsible for all logistics and sustainment issues for four wings, two units, one detachment and over 14,000 personnel assigned to the Center. He was also responsible for Foundational Operations efforts through the Future of Nellis Enterprise and Maintenance Operational Test and Evaluation initiatives. Additionally, he coordinates with Higher Headquarters on mission basing requirements and ensures logistical integration to support joint, all-domain combat operations. Colonel Egbalic earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Industrial Technology with a Minor in Business Management, and received his commission as a Distinguished Graduate through the Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps from San Jose State University, Calif. in 1995. He served 13 years in the Regular Air Force before transitioning to the Air Force Reserve in 2008. He served in various aircraft maintenance officer capacities throughout his career at the wing, depot and major command headquarters, has experience on A-10, F-15, F-16, F-22, F-111 and F-117 aircraft, has commanded at the squadron and group levels, and has deployed in support of Operations SOUTHERN WATCH, ENDURING FREEDOM and INHERENT RESOLVE. Prior to his current assignment, he served as the Director of Staff, 926th Wing, Nellis AFB, Nev., and deployed as the Special Assistant to the Chief of Staff, Ninth Air Force, U.S. Air Forces Central Command, Al Udeid AB, Qatar.
