Lieutenant Colonel CARLA M. MARTINEZ Lt. Col. Carla M. Martinez is the Group Commander, 433rd Maintenance Group, Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, Texas. She leads over 500 technicians in 25 Air Force specialty codes and is responsible for executing a 2,000 flying hour program for 8 C-5M aircraft valued at over $1.4 billion. She ensures safe aircraft launch, recovery, servicing, maintenance, and inspections. Additionally, she leads sortie production necessary to support real world, combat coded and humanitarian mission taskings. She is directly responsible for the sortie production necessary to train over 200 C-5M aircrew yearly for the U.S. Air Force. She also manages an annual budget of approximately $20 million as well as facilities valued at $300 million. Lieutenant Colonel Martinez is the senior maintenance advisor responsible for maintaining fleet health for the 433rd Airlift Wing as well as ensuring the daily flying mission is met. Lieutenant Colonel Martinez entered the Air Force in 2001 and was commissioned through the Reserve Officers’ Training Corps after graduating from the University of Texas at San Antonio. Lieutenant Colonel Martinez’s experience includes service on active duty, as a traditional reservist, and as an Air Reserve Technician. That experience includes a variety of assignments within the aircraft maintenance career field, special duty assignments, and several mobilizations. Lieutenant Colonel Martinez last served as the Deputy Air Reserve Advisor for Air Force Central Command at Al Udied Air Base, Qatar, advising the commander on all Air Force Reserve and Air National Guard affairs throughout the area of responsibility.
