Col. Terry W. McClain, 433rd Airlift Wing commander, officiated the 433rd Mission Support Group assumption of command ceremony for Col. Wayne M. Williams here Sept. 7, 2019.

It is customary for the officiating officer to speak about and introduce the inbound commander.

McClain said Williams was highly recommended by an Air Force Reserve Command general officer, and had two other job offers prior to accepting the position here.

After accepting the guidon, Williams had a few words for McClain about this new assignment.

“I’m well aware of the scope and significance of the responsibilities of that guidon you just passed to me,” said Williams. “You can rest assured I am going to carry out those responsibilities to the best of my ability while I’m in command. I welcome these challenges and I’m honored to have this opportunity, sir. Thank you.”

The 433rd MSG commander is responsible for more than 900 Airmen spanning six squadrons, including security forces, force support, aerial port, logistics readiness, and civil engineers.

Prior to his assignment here, Williams was the Reserve Advisor to the Director of Civil Engineers, US Air Force Headquarters, the Pentagon, Arlington, Virginia.
