Peasinger 433rd Public Affairs LACKLAND AFB -- -- Vehicle accidents are a common event . They happen anywhere and anytime. Preparation is a sure way to lighten the burden when the unexpected happens. Senior Airman Jose Hernandez and Tech. Sgt. John Resendez from the 433rd Logistics Readiness Squadron practice accident reporting procedures while simulating an accident involving a military vehicle on base. Hernandez radios military police to notify the authorities of the accident. Participating in training simulations is the best way to prepare for actual accidents, said Master Sgt. James Levi, the Vehicle Control NCO at the 433rd LRS. All accidents involving military vehicles must follow the proper procedures that include; rendering assistance to injured, warning other motorists of any existing hazards, notifying the police, call vehicle control NCO to file the proper paperwork, comply with all state and base laws, take vehicle to maintenance shop for inspection or call VCO for wrecker service. Further instructions may be given pertaining to specific situations, always follow any instructions from authorities for reporting.
