Brig. Gen. Caroline M. Miller, 502nd Air Base Wing commander, and Lt. Col. Brian K. Strickland, 502nd Civil Engineer Group deputy director, toured the 433rd Airlift Wing’s C-5M Super Galaxy formal training unit’s two student lodging facilities here Nov. 24.

Miller, who assumed command of Joint Base San Antonio in June 2020, visited to learn more about the FTU’s mission and how JBSA supported the 433rd AW as a partner unit here.

As the host unit for JBSA, the 502nd ABW provides support for more than 266 mission partners across 11 locations.

Lt. Col. Brandi B. King, 733rd Training Squadron director of operations, briefed the 502nd ABW leadership on the unit’s mission, to train all active duty and Reserve Airmen C-5M crew positions.

King also discussed a requirement for additional student housing in the future.

“Due to an increase in loadmaster initial qualification requirements and training period, the FTU will need additional student housing in the next four years,” said King.

While on the tour, the group discussed areas of improvement for existing facilities as well as interim options to handle student population growth.
