10/16/2012 - JOINT BASE SAN ANTONIO-LACKLAND -- Civilians filled the 68th Airlift Squadron's auditorium for Col. Jeffrey T. Pennington's first civilian commander' s call Oct.4.
Pennington praised the civilian Airmen for all of their hard work, and the vital role each person plays in the 433rd Airlift Wing. He stressed the need to know the wing' s mission statement, "To provide combat ready forces," and every member must be able to state the mission, when asked.
"I want to thank you for all you do. Everyone has different roles, rank and responsibilities," said Pennington. "But we are all equal in the fact that we leave our families and love ones and come out here..., I'm extremely proud of you. There are a lot of places you can go out and make money, but you choose to do it here. Thank you."
During his address, Pennington covered a wide range of topics including civilian quarterly awards, strategic planning, the approval of several 3-Rs' (Recruitment, Relocation and Retention) incentive packages, the new headquarters building and a number of construction projects scheduled in the near future.
Pennington also recognized several civilian employees by presenting them with service awards for their longevity as civil servants;
