Commander visits Movers and Shakers program

Col. Thomas K. Smith, Jr., 433rd Airlift Wing commander, was interviewed by John Thurman, Heart of Texas Realty, Bjorn Dybdahl, Bjorns Audio Video, and Klaus Weiswurm, Innovation Technology Machinery, on the San Antonio's Movers and Shakers April 8, 2017 at the 930AM The Answer studios.

The program provides an in-depth look into the education, business, civic, and public leaders who keep the entrepreneurial spirit alive in San Antonio.

Col. Smith spoke about his father's service in the U.S. Army and how that influenced him as a child, planting the seeds for his own future military service in the Air Force and the Alamo Wing's capabilities.

"Outside my door on a wall was my dads commission in a frame, and in a shadow box next to it was his Legion of Merit, and I would stare at those from my bed and walk past them everyday as I walked downstairs, that had an affect on me."

Col. Smith would later become a distinguished graduate of the United States Air Force Academy as well as a Guggenheim Scholar.
